KT6 VALVE

The Serviceable Heart of Every KT6 Vane Pump

Every KT6 Series vane pump is built around a modular cartridge insert — what we refer to as the KT6 Valve — containing the rotor, vanes, and cam ring assembly that actually generates hydraulic flow. This is the component that turns a KT6 pump housing into a working vane pump, and it’s engineered specifically so that it can be serviced, upgraded, or replaced without touching the pump’s outer housing or disturbing your existing piping connections.

Why the Cartridge Design Exists

Traditional vane pump designs often require a substantial portion of pump disassembly to access and service the internal pumping elements — meaning the pump has to come off the machine, the housing has to be opened, and the piping connections have to be broken and later resealed. For a production environment where every hour of downtime has a real cost, this kind of maintenance burden adds up fast.

The KT6 Valve cartridge design solves this directly. Because the rotor, vane, and cam ring assembly is built as a self-contained, drop-in cartridge that seats inside the pump’s outer housing, maintenance teams can remove and service or replace just the cartridge — without disconnecting the pump from its mounting or its plumbing. The housing stays bolted in place, the inlet and outlet connections stay sealed, and the internal working assembly is swapped out as a single unit.

One Housing, Multiple Flow Capacities

Beyond maintenance convenience, the cartridge design gives you genuine flexibility that a fixed, non-modular pump design can’t offer: because displacement is determined by the cartridge rather than the housing, the same KT6 pump housing can accommodate cartridges across KCL’s full displacement range. If your application’s flow requirements change — whether due to a process change, an equipment retrofit, or simply because the original specification turned out to be slightly off — you can often change your pump’s output by swapping the internal cartridge, rather than replacing the entire pump and re-engineering your mounting and plumbing.

This is a meaningful advantage for OEMs building equipment platforms that need to serve multiple flow requirements across different product configurations, since it can allow a single housing design to support several output variants through cartridge selection alone.

Precision Manufacturing, Where It Actually Matters

The internal geometry of the rotor, vane, and cam ring assembly is where a vane pump’s real performance is determined — volumetric efficiency, internal leakage, pressure ripple, and noise all trace back to how precisely these components are manufactured and how well they work together. This is exactly why KCL’s manufacturing investment is concentrated on equipment like our Toyota inner ring profile grinders, Koyo double disc grinders, and TSKK slit grinders — machinery specifically suited to holding the tight tolerances that a high-performance cartridge assembly requires.

A cartridge that looks correct on a data sheet but hasn’t been manufactured to genuinely tight tolerances will show its shortcomings in exactly the metrics that matter most: higher internal leakage, more noise, and a shorter service life before wear starts degrading performance. KCL’s KT6 Valve cartridges are manufactured under the same ISO 9001:2015 certified quality systems and precision equipment as the rest of our pump range, specifically to avoid that shortfall.

Compatible Across the KT6 Configuration Range

KT6 Valve cartridges are available across the full range of displacement options offered within the KT6 pump series, and are compatible with the various shaft, rotation, and seal class configurations your specific pump housing was originally specified with. This means whether you’re servicing an existing KT6 installation or building spare parts inventory to support a fleet of KT6 pumps, you can source the correct cartridge to match your exact configuration.

Typical Use Cases

  • Scheduled maintenance on existing KT6 pump installations, replacing worn internal components without full pump replacement
  • Flow capacity changes on equipment where process requirements have shifted since original installation
  • Spare parts inventory management for facilities operating multiple KT6 pumps, reducing the need to stock complete replacement pumps
  • OEM platform design, where a single housing supports multiple displacement variants through cartridge selection

Why Choose KCL’s KT6 Valve Cartridge

Keeping a KT6 pump running at its original performance specification over years of service depends entirely on the quality of the internal cartridge assembly doing the actual pumping work. KCL manufactures every KT6 Valve cartridge to the same precision standard as our complete pumps — because a cartridge that’s manufactured with anything less doesn’t just underperform, it undermines the reliability of an otherwise well-engineered pump housing.
